About Dr Juel Chowdhury Physician, Researcher & Educator

Dr. Juel Chowdhury is a highly accomplished Public Health Physician who has devoted his career to enhancing healthcare systems and outcomes, particularly for low-income communities. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Gulf Medical University in Ajman, UAE, and subsequently pursued advanced training at Harvard Medical School, where he completed the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training program, focusing on Clinical Trials. He worked as an associate researcher at the University of Illinois in Chicago with Prof James Radosevich, where his work focused on finding a cure for head and neck adenocarcinoma and developing an effective vaccine. Dr. Chowdhury is currently serving at Ministry of Public Health in Doha, Qatar. His work is crucial in tackling complex public health challenges. During the pandemic, he played a key role in developing a digital contact tracing application that helped to save millions of people from the spread of the virus and contain the infection. This revolutionary digital system helped maintain public protection and effectively vaccinate people. Dr. Chowdhury collaborates with his colleagues to develop and implement policies and programs, supervises the national immunization registry, and leads outbreak response efforts and also collaborative learning in public health from Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Chowdhury has gained diverse experience in clinical care, research, and education before his current position. He worked as an Intern Physician at Umm Al Quwain General Hospital, an Instructor at the National College of Health in Chicago, and an Associate Researcher in Cancer Genetics at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Dr. Chowdhury has received several awards for his contributions in the field of science. He was awarded the prestigious Scientific Merit Award from the International Society of Oncology and Biomarker. He has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to book chapters on topics related to cancer biology and cell death. Currently, he is working on developing an advanced public health framework with the help of artificial intelligence, along with a global health passport system to be implemented globally in alignment with the University of Oxford.
